For the very first time, visitors to the Great British Beer Festival will be able to decide for themselves between cask and keg at a comparative beer tasting with Harvey’s Brewery.

The festival, which takes place from 6-10 August at Olympia London, is the traditional showcase of the very best traditional real ales across Britain. For the first time ever, it will host a live craft keg area with a CAMRA run key-keg bar plus four pioneering craft brewery bars including Siren, Tiny Rebel, Magic Rock and Wild Beer Co.

It will also unveil a new Discovery Zone, where visitors can learn more about their favourite drinks. Harveys Head Brewer and Joint Managing Director Miles Jenner will join the festival trade day with their Wharfe IPA, dispensed in both cask and keg for comparative tasting. Their barley wine Tin Lizzie will also be available on keg for the first time.

Bringing together the most influential, highly regarded and emerging brewing talent in the country, the Discovery Zone will also give attendees the chance to meet other brewers and sample their brews. These include:

• Lily Waite, founder of the Queer Brewing Project who will be showcasing Project X Northern Monk Collaboration in cask and keg (7 August)

• Adnams Head Brewer Fergus Fitzgerald presenting Ghost Ship 4.5% in cask and Ghost Ship 0.5% in keg (8 August)

• Hammerton Brewery Head Brewer Charlotte Cook with her N1 American Pale Ale and Crunch Peanut Butter Milk Stout in cask and keg (9 August)

• A special guest from Five Points Brewery to sample their Pale Ale in cask and keg (10 August)

Visitors can also interact with high-quality brewing ingredients, such as the very best hops and malts provided by Charles Faram Hops Merchants and Crisp Malt to learn more about the brewing process with representatives from Crips and Faram’s supporting the activities on trade day (6 August).

Brewers will be on hand to guide visitors through relaxed, engaging and informative tastings while exploring a range of topics such as dispense, diversity in brewing or showcasing beers in new formats.
