A summer of fun planned the Towpath Inn, Gilwern

A friendly canalside pub in Gilwern will be organising a number of events this summer to help celebrate CAMRA’s Summer of Pub campaign – an initiative to encourage pub-going over the summer months.

The Towpath Inn boasts a large beer garden alongside the canal with views of the barges moor beside the towpath. With cosy firesides and dining areas, it will be attracting visitors from near and far to celebrate a summer of street food pop-ups, live music events and other activities this summer.

Forthcoming events include:

  • The barded Taco pop up, 4 July

  • Makasih Street Food pop up, 6 July

  • Friday night pop up with Spicers Meat Wagon, 12 July

  • Pregos Street Food, 13 July

  • The Beefy Boys Pop up, 3 August

  •  A book club meeting, 6 August

CAMRA is working hundreds of pubs, including the Towpath Inn, to organise events to celebrate pub-going this summer, helping to keep the tradition alive by reminding the public how important their local is to their community.

CAMRA’s National Chairman Nik Antona said: “It’s fantastic to see so many pubs get involved in the Summer of Pub campaign and put on events to encourage visitors through their doors this summer. From World Cups screenings to Quiz Nights and Garden Parties, the range of activities taking place demonstrates how unique the Great British Pub is as an institution – reminding us all why we need to work so hard to preserve it.”

CAMRA’s local campaign organiser Martyn Groucutt adds: “This is a great pub that has recently had a lot of money spent on it by Felinfoel brewery, who own the premises. The young licensees are working hard to make the place successful again after a period of closure and they deserve support.”
