Campaigning Milestones

2018

CAMRA celebrates 30 years of campaigning for real cider and perry.

2016

The Chancellor announced that the duty exemption for small cider producers would be upheld, helping to ensure the preservation of real cider producers across the UK.

2014

A petition with over 20,000 signatures was presented to 10 Downing Street asking the Government to reject EU calls for increased duty on small UK cider producers.

2010

Cider, a book celebrating real cider in the UK, was published.

2009

The 'Real Cider Sold Here' sticker scheme was launched to help highlight pubs serving real cider and perry.

2005

The first National Cider Pub of the Year was announced. Increasing numbers of pubs continue to compete for this award each year, with the winner being announced each October.

2003

The first month-long celebration of real cider and perry was held. We now encourage everyone to celebrate real cider and perry each May and October.

1998

The Pomona Award was established to recognise outstanding achievements in the promotion of real cider and perry

1990

The first of four major cider and perry exhibitions was held in London.

1988

The specialist cider and perry (APPLE) committee was formed. Later that year the first Cider & Perry Championships were held, and continue annually to this day.
