This pub started life in 1862 as F Cooke's Eel, Pie & Mash Shop and is a Grade II listed building. It is one of the oldest surviving purpose-built pie and mash shops in London. The splendid conversion is to be applauded for its treasuring and celebration of historic features. The original interior remains with stunningly beautiful tiled walls, including some intricate eel motifs, and superb stained glass domed skylights. There is a new bar on the right side. There are additional, larger rooms upstairs and at the back and a garden with a pétanque court and a covered area called the eel tank.
