General Election 2017 - Pledge for Pubs!

Ahead of the General Election on Thursday 8th June, CAMRA asked election candidates to pledge their support for beer and pubs by committing to:

1. Beer: Celebrate and promote Britain's 1,540 breweries
2. Pubs: Support action to help pubs thrive
3. Consumers: Represent the interests of pub goers, beer and cider drinkers

In total, 773 candidates signed up to our #pledgeforpubs and 130 of them were elected! You can download the list of elected MPs who supported CAMRA's pledges here.

We'd like to say a big thanks to all of the candidates who added their support, and all the CAMRA members who joined in the campaign.

We will now be working closely with elected MPs to make sure your voice is heard in Parliament. For more information on how you can get involved please email campaigns@camra.org.uk.

Comment from CAMRA on the UKIP Manifesto

Comment from CAMRA on the UKIP Manifesto

Following the release of the UKIP Manifesto, please find below comment from the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), which is urging election candidates to back a number of pledges to support British pubs and beer.

Colin Valentine, CAMRA's National Chairman says:

"CAMRA has expressed surprise at the UKIP Manifesto which states that a UKIP Government would pass a new law to reduce the number of pubs and to restrict pub opening hours. This is a dramatic change in policy for a party that has previously described saving pubs as a UKIP priority. On the positive side the UKIP Manifesto includes a very welcome proposal to reduce the business rates bill for small businesses by 20%. This move would save a large number of pubs several thousand pounds a year which will help keep pubs as the beating heart of community life.

"UKIP candidates at this Election who are keen to show their support for Britain's pubs and pub goers are urged to pledge their support for CAMRA's #pledgeforpubs."
