Ask your MP to Protect Local Pubs
11 June 2010
By Emily Ryans
Yesterday in Parliament, 20 MPs were selected to bring forward their own Private Members' Bill on an issue of their choosing.
We are hoping to use this opportunity to persuade one of these MPs to take up a Bill closing a loophole in Planning law. The current planning law system allows premises used to provide a local service (including pubs, shops, post offices and community centres) to be demolished or converted to other uses without needing to apply for planning permission. Councils and local people are left powerless to act as valuable community amenities are destroyed and our pubs are lost. Please see our
Bill Briefing for more detailed information on the problem and how it's affecting your pubs.
If you live in the constituency of one of the successful MPs, we need your help to persuade them to choose to take up our Planning Bill.
Please take a look at the
list of successful MPs and if your MP is on the list, visit our
campaigning website and send them an email using the template that we have provided.
