Before yesterday's General Election, 670 Parliamentary Candidates signed up to pledge their support for CAMRA's Beer Drinkers and Pub Goers Charter.
CAMRA has been closely following the election results overnight, in order to determine how many of these candidates have become MPs.
This morning, the CAMRA Public Affairs Team announced that, 'So far, 140 supportive candidates have become MPs, with 18 results still to be announced.'
The overwhelming number of new, supportive MPs highlights the success of CAMRA's election campaign, in which parliamentary candidates were asked by nearly 2000 CAMRA members to sign up to '5 Key Commitments' to support community pubs.
CAMRA looks forward to working closely with all supportive MPs, to ensure necessary and crucial reforms to protect community pubs and responsible beer drinkers are seriously considered.
