Five new CAMRA festivals in five years

For Immediate Release: 13th March 2017

Five new CAMRA festivals in five years

While some beer festivals run by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) will be marking their 40th anniversaries this year, others are still in their infancy with five new festivals opening their doors to the public in just under five years.

From London to Cheshire, the Campaign is still seeing a high demand for beer festivals as it continues to add to the 200 festivals that currently run across the country.

The latest additions have already proved to be highly popular in their local area, with beer drinkers lining up to take part in the festivities.

For those in the London area, the 4th Kidbrooke Beer and Cider Festival (25-27 May) offers more than 50 beers, ciders and perries, local food, and has beautiful views over Shooters Hill.

Kidbrooke Beer and Cider Festival Organiser, Anna Lancefield, said: "As a branch we wanted to run an annual festival and spent time in 2013 searching for the perfect venue. Around 850 people visited us in our first year over the three days of the festival and the numbers have grown slowly but steadily over the three years that we've been running.

"It's great to be able to support the ever-growing number of local breweries as well as provide a wider national offering. Local food vendors and bands are also very much part of the package and we're becoming an eagerly anticipated annual fixture in the local area."

For those slightly further afield, the Maidenhead Beer & Cider Festival will be running from 19-21 October at its new venue, the Maidenhead Leisure Centre. As well the real ale and cider, visitors can expect Champion Beer of Britain judging and a pub-style quiz night with prizes.

Drinkers will also have the chance to visit the Cheshire Beer Festival from 10-11 November, which has built a reputation for delivering quirky entertainment ranging from a 60 member choir and morris dancers, to magicians performing tricks at drinkers' tables.  Alternatively, the 4th Cannock Chase CAMRA Real Ale and Cider Festival which runs from 21-23 September will offer over 60 real ales, 20 ciders and perries, food, live music and a tombola.

Entering its fifth year, The Nuneaton & Bedworth Branch Annual Festival (16-17 June) is held in the town centre in close proximity to the train and bus stations, and three pubs featured in the Good Beer Guide.

So if you're looking for something different to try this year, why not choose to support one of our newest festivals.
