Discover CAMRA's best pubs in the North West at the launch of the Good Beer Guide

The pubs and breweries of the North West are being celebrated at the official regional launch of the Campaign for Real Ale's Good Beer Guide in Salford, Manchester.

As well as the launch of the latest edition of the leading pub and brewery guide, the regional winners of CAMRA's Pub of the Year competition from the North West will be announced at the event to take place at CraftBrew, Media City, Salford on 15th September.

Representatives of the region's award winning pubs and breweries have been invited to the event, which starts at 5pm.

This year's Good Beer Guide - sponsored by real ale quality assessor Cask Marque - reports that real ale is the success story of British beer, with more than 200 new breweries opening in the UK in the past year - 50 of those in the North West.

There are now 70 breweries listed in the latest Good Beer Guide in the Greater Manchester region, 10 up on last year. Merseyside has seen brewery numbers increase by five to 17, while Cheshire now has 33 breweries, also up five. Cumbria boasts 42 breweries, an increase of five, while Lancashire has seen the number of breweries grow from 28 to 33 in the last twelve months.

CAMRA volunteers across the country have spearheaded a campaign to arrest the alarming rate of closure for pubs and the North West is no exception. The new Good Beer Guide reports that pubs can be saved when communities get together and campaign to get pubs listed as Assets of Community Value.

To date 1,500 pubs have been listed across the country, with around 100 listed in the North West.

The Good Beer Guide 2017 highlights the best of the pubs in the region, with more than 500 pubs listed in the guide this year from the North West.
