Yeast Free Beers
People who suffer from an intolerance of yeast may have more problems in finding a beer that they can drink safely.
Cask conditioned beers still contain yeast cells (anything from 0.5 - 2.0 m cells per ml) which drive the slow secondary fermentation in the cask from which they are served. Whilst the action of finings will cause the majority of such cells to drop into the belly of the cask and thus not be consumed by the drinker there will still be some yeast present which may cause an allergic reaction. Similarly bottle conditioned beers will have yeast some of which may transfer to the drinkers glass.
