CAMRA is a not-for-profit consumer group with over 162,000 members that has been operating since 1971. The organisation campaigns on behalf of beer, cider and perry drinkers and is also committed to the preservation of pubs, which it sees as integral parts of every community. ‘The Campaign’ is volunteer led with the CAMRA Staff working from an office in St Albans and providing professional support to the organisation’s campaigning and commercial operations, as well as providing a range of services to members.

We are independent and our policies and campaigning objectives are set by our membership.
CAMRA’s decision-making process is wholly independent of any commercial companies or other organisations.

Job Details

We are looking for an outstanding Events Marketer to join our small and close-knit team and lead the marketing activity for the Campaigns portfolio of events held across the UK. This is a great role for a collaborative, ‘hands-on’ marketer looking to work on an interesting and varied range of festivals including the largest beer festival in the country.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Events Manager, the Events Marketing Officer will work within the Events team and be responsible for delivering event attendee targets and support marketing efforts across branch events when required.

Interviews will take place W/C 29th November 2021.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, develop and maintain a marketing plan aligned to the targeted number of visitors to events across the full festival portfolio.
  • Where possible, work with branch festival organizers and be responsible for driving and developing the promotion of CAMRA’s event proposition.
  • Take a lead on the development and implementation of marketing initiatives for the complete festival portfolio including the Great British Beer Festival national event series to deliver the required number of attendees.
  • Manage the member & non-member marketing for all event activities creating email, social and website content and identify additional marketing and promotion opportunities

  • Affiliate marketing

  • Develop a strong working relationship with national festival organisers and either:
  • Develop and implement an agreed plan on behalf of the festival organiser OR
  • Provide marketing support to help achieve the required number of attendees as and when the festival organiser requires it.
  • Ensure a consistent look and feel is maintained across CAMRA’s festivals to support the CAMRA event portfolio.
  • Proactively manage partnerships with appropriate third-party organisations that will bring direct benefit to CAMRA and its wider membership.
  • Provide support for CAMRA’s Marketing & Festival committees.
  • To work closely with various staff teams to ensure the efficient & effective delivery of all marketing initiatives.
  • Develop and disseminate festival marketing reporting.
  • Manage all aspects of design, production, receipt and distribution of marketing material. (pre-event & onsite)
  • Maintain and update website content for the national event series, corporate tastings and festival hub.
  • Manage the general events and national events marketing budget, and report monthly.
  • Effectively manage suppliers in-line with agreed SLA and budgets.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the line manager.

Essential:

  • Experience of working in a marketing role.
  • Drive to see ideas through from concept to completion.
  • Excellent communication (both oral & written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Good computing skills.
  • Experience of updating and creating website content using WordPress or similar software.
  • Ability to function effectively within a small team and to remain calm under pressure.
  • Experience of writing, managing and reporting on marketing plans.
  • Ability to own and be responsible for specific tasks and targets.
  • Experience of developing and managing external partnerships in the delivery of projects.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
  • Self-led with an ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Ability to attend occasional meetings and out of hours events at evenings and weekends for which there will be time off in lieu given.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with volunteers.
  • A working knowledge of photoshop
  • Experience of working with an online ticketing service e.g. Eventbrite
  • Understanding of the Not-for-Profit environment.
  • Experience of data analysis.
  • Knowledge of & an interest in the Beer & Pubs sector.
