Scottish Parliamentary Reception a success

CAMRA's annual Scottish Reception was a huge success as MSPs, CAMRA volunteers and industry representatives came together to celebrate and campaign for real ale in Scotland.

The reception was hosted by MSP Patrick Harvie, who welcomed fellow guests to Edinburgh.

CAMRA representatives discussed pubco reform with MSPs as the Reception followed hot on the heels of a debate on introducing a Statutory Code of Practice and an Adjudicator to protect hard working licensees in Scotland. At its close, the Business Minister Fergus Ewing MSP had committed to commission a study into the tied-pub sector to determine what legislation may need to be put forward to support tied tenants.

Ray Turpie, Scotland and Northern Ireland Director spoke at the reception about the need to maintain pressure on the Scottish Government to ensure tied tenants in Scotland have the same rights as those in England and Wales.

A range of real ales were also available for guests to enjoy including Dark Moore from Kelburn Brewery, Ossian from Inveralmound Brewery and Pentland IPA from Stewart Brewing.
