Cask Ale Report
Cask Ale Report
The Cask Report 2011-2012
The fifth volume of the Cask Report which gives a true picture of the real ale market in the UK, was published on 26th September 2011.
Cask ale continues to outperform the rest of the on-trade market and has increased its share of pub sales from 14.5% to 15%.
An additional 2500 pubs stocked cask ale in 2010 than in the previous year.
There are now 7.8 million real ale drinkers across Britain. The number of 18-24 year olds drinking real ale shows a slight increase.
Real ale is gaining significant numbers of new drinkers - 37% of people who have tried real ale did so in the last ten years. 10% tried it for the first time in the last 12 months. 85% of those who have ever tried real ale claim they drink it nowadays.
The cask report gives an authoritative account of the real ale market and reveals that in an otherwise depressing and declining beer market it is real ale that is the stand out performer.
