Brakspear

Welcome to the Brakspear CAMRA Complimentary Club area of the CAMRA website.

Brakspear beer has been brewed in Oxfordshire since the early 18th Century. Following the closure of Brakspear Brewery in Henley in 2002, Wychwood was committed to bringing the brewing of Brakspear beers back to Oxfordshire.
After undergoing redevelopment, the Wychwood Brewery site now incorporates a separate Brakspear brewhouse and fermenting room. Much of the original Brakspear brewing equipment is still used, including the original Brakspear Copper and the famous "double drop" fermenting system used to brew Brakspear beers since 1774.
Brakspear "Double Drop" - The Brakspear Fermenting Room houses six original Brakspear square wooden fermenters and two circular vessels. This arrangement of vessels is called the "double drop" system and it's this process that gives Brakspear beers their unique character. Brakspear is one of the very few beers in the UK to continue to use the 'Double Drop' system.
All Brakspear beers are brewed alongside Wychwood beers, and are still supplied weekly to all the Brakspear pubs.
