Awards
CAMRA makes a number of awards throughout the year to brewers, producers, pubs and clubs in recognition of excellence. These range from local and regional awards to our national awards such as the Champion Beer of Britain and National Pub of Year.
Beer & Cider Awards
Champion Beer of Britain
The Champion Beer of Britain competition was first held in 1978. The final rounds of the competition are judged on the first day of the Great British Beer Festival. The beers are judged by panels of CAMRA tasting panel members, beer writers, brewers and the occasional celebrity beer drinker.
Champion Winter Beer of Britain
CAMRA holds a separate Champion Winter Beer of Britain competition for those styles of beer which may only be brewed and sold during the Winter months. This competition was first held in the Winter of 1996/97. There are four classes of beer judged at this competition, Old Ales and Strong Milds, Barley Wines, Porters and Stouts. The winners of each of these classes go forward to the Champion Beer of Britain judging later in the year.
Champion Beer of Scotland | Champion Beer of Wales | Champion Bottle-Conditioned Beer of Britain| American Cask Beer
National Cider and Perry of the Year
Annual awards for the National Cider and National Perry champions have been held since 1989.
National Pomona Award
The Pomona Award is presented by CAMRA to the person, people, organisation, place or thing who has done the most to promote real cider or perry over the previous 12 months or for ongoing work to promote cider and perry. The award is named after the Roman goddess of apples.
Pub & Club Awards
National Pub of the Year
The competition to decide CAMRA's National Pub of the Year is probably the one that takes the longest to decide and involves all CAMRA's branches. In the early part of the year every branch decides on the pub which is their pub of the year based on the quality of the real ale served there during the past twelve months. These pubs then go forward to be judged at the county and then the regional level and finally four pubs make it to the super-regional final from which the top pub is named CAMRA National Pub of the Year. As well as the quality of the real ale other factors such as sympathy with CAMRA's aims, service and welcome, clientele mix, atmosphere and value for money are taken into account.
National Cider Pub of the Year
This award is given to the pub which in the view of the judges has done most to real quality cider and perry throughout the year.
National Club of the Year | National Pub Design Awards

Dane Kane Award
This award is for technical innovations in the brewing and pubs industry that have a positive impact on beer quality. The award can be made to an individual or a group or company. The award is named after Dan Kane one of the foremost campaigners for real ale in an era when the keg brewers were trying to kill it. He fought long and hard in Scotland and with success, as evidenced by the number of outlets and breweries in Scotland today. Dan was a former member of the National Executive
