Trips
Make the most of your Members’ Weekend and take a trip to a quality brewery or pub within Torquay and the local area.
These trips will give you the chance to learn about the history of the breweries, sample some of their finest ales and socialise with fellow CAMRA members.

Friday 30th and Saturday 31st Trips:
- Dartmoor Brewery was established as the Princetown Brewery in 1994 in an outbuilding behind the Prince of Wales pub. In 2005 it moved into a new purpose built building where the capacity was increased from 180 barrels a week to 300. At 1,400 feet above sea level, it is the highest brewery in England. 5:30pm - 10:30pm BOTH DAYS ARE SOLD OUT
- Teignworthy Brewery (including Tukers Maltings). Teignworthy Brewery was established in 1994 by John and Rachel Lawton and is located in the historic Tuckers Maltings, which is the last traditional floor maltings in the South West. The brewery produces 100 barrels a week. A range of beers will be available, both in draught and bottle conditioned. 5:30pm – 10:30pm BOTH DAYS ARE SOLD OUT
- Hunt’s Cider is a small family farm on the outskirts of Paignton which has been established for over 200 years. The farm is a mixed 400 acre farm stocking cattle and sheep as well as growing barley, and 18 acres of cider apple orchards. All of the cider is made from 100% juice. If you like your cider then this trip is for you. 5:30pm – 10:30pm
Friday 30th Trips:
- Bays Brewery began in 2007 in Paignton where they launched their first two brews, Best and Gold. Bays will be providing members with a scrumptious barbeque. 5:30pm – 10:30pm
- Red Rock Brewery was started in 2006 by two teachers who shared an overwhelming interest in beer. The family run, 4 barrel brewery is based in a renovated barn. Members will be served with pasties. 5:30pm – 10:30pm
Saturday 31st Trips:
- Valiant Soldier dates back from the 1700’s with the earliest mention of it as a pub on 1813. The Valiant Soldier public house closed in the 1960’s, when the last customer left and the doors locked. Today, it is now a living museum, taking you back to the days of the 1960’s. 5:30pm – 10:30pm
- Hunters Brewery opened in 2008 and uses 5 barrel brew plant. Expansion now means the brewery has six fermenters and is capable of a 60 barrel brew length. A variety of beers will be available. 5:30pm – 10:30pm
All brewery trips cost £15; this price will include travel expenses, food and beer/cider- except at Valiant Soilder where beer is extra.

- To avoid confusion over availability of places, please talk to an operator to book your tickets and do not leave a message as we cannot guarantee a timely response
- Please ensure you have your membership number to hand when booking- Last date to book trip tickets is March 21st 2012
- All trips include travelling expenses and food
- All trips will depart from and return to the Riviera Centre
- Discounted bus tickets can be purchased from Stagecoach buses throughout Torquay
Young Members Pub Crawl
A pub crawl specifically for Young Members’ has been arranged to give you the opportunity to visit some of Torquay’s finest pubs, socialise with friends and meet new people. The crawl will take place on Saturday 31st at 6:30pm and will begin in the Member's Bar. After a short train ride, you will take a trip around some of Newton Abbot’s finest pubs including the Olde Cider Bar, the Richard Hopkins (GBG) and the Union Inn (GBG), before returning to the Hole in the Wall (GBG) in Torquay. Members do not need to book on to this trip.
