What is real ale?
Real ale is the genuine article. It's literally living, breathing beer, fresh, unprocessed, wholesome and natural. It is brewed from traditional ingredients, matured by secondary fermentation in the container from which it is dispensed and served without the use of extraneous gas.
How does CAMRA promote the best real ale pubs in Britain?
CAMRA produces the annual Good Beer Guide that highlights the best 4,500 real ale pubs in Britain according to our members. Pubs are also awarded national, regional and local awards for the quality of their beer.
How does CAMRA award breweries that produce the best beer?
CAMRA makes national and local awards for excellence in brewing distinctive beers.
Do I need to join my University Real Ale Society?
You must be a member of your University Real Ale Society and they must be affiliated to CAMRA to benefit from this offer.
How can I become active within CAMRA?
By joining the organisation you can survey pubs, work at beer festivals, join in with local Young Members or just enjoy your benefits and contribute to our campaigns.
